Equipment Maintenance Plan
Station personnel are responsible for routine and certain corrective maintenance as recommended by the equipment manufacturers. Routine maintenance normally includes cleaning, lubricating, adjusting equipment controls, inspecting equipment, recording meter readings, and replacing fuses, lamps, etc.
Corrective maintenance generally involves isolation of faults down to a replaceable subassembly or module. When a faulty module has been identified, the station notifies the Depot. The Depot ships a replacement module to the station. Upon receipt of the replacement module, the station installs the replacement module, verifies correct operation, and returns the faulty module to the Depot within three working days. The module is then repaired and returned to stock at the Depot.
Equipment that is damaged beyond repair by such causes as lightning, fire, smoke, water, etc., is the responsibility of the station at which the damage occurred. Generally a station's casualty insurance will provide coverage for such losses.
The Depot is funded by stations, which participate in the PRSS through a portion of each station's D/I fee. The Depot's resources and services are shared on an equal basis by all Participating Stations. Stations that have not made timely payment of their D/I fee may be denied service. Stations that are excessively delinquent in returning equipment will also be denied service.
