Basic Uplink Services

The Network Operations Center (NOC), located in Washington, DC, serves as both the system's operational control point and as the master uplink. It is operated as a system resource.

Services provided by the NOC include:

  • Scheduling. The uplink will provide staff to operate the uplink to transmit your program.
  • Telco Interconnection. If your program originates outside the uplink's studio, the uplink will allow telephone circuits to be installed for the transmission of your program and assist in the set-up and testing of these circuits before the actual transmission time.
  • Transmission. The NOC can send your program through its uplink equipment.
  • Media Return. The NOC will return your program medium (cassette, compact disc, etc.) if you wish, though you may have to pay postage.

More information about the Washington uplink is available.
