Discounts
You will qualify for a discount on your channel charges (but not uplink charges) any time you distribute one or more channel hours in a calendar month. A one-hour stereo transmission counts as two channel hours. Refer to the chart below for details on quantity discounts.

Extended Use Discount
We offer a special channel rate to producers wanting overnight use of a channel (mono or stereo). This discount is given when channel time starts between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET, and ends between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. ET, on a five, six, or seven day per week schedule, at your option. The discount takes 60% off the applicable standard occasional channel charge for your usage. This discount is only available with a six-month written agreement.
Unconfirmed Time
Unconfirmed time is designed to minimize costs for the following types of point-to-point use:
- Production feeds
- Refeeds to stations that miss a scheduled program feed (Stations are charged for the satellite time a refeed requires. The person ordering the refeed should provide the account representative with a Refeed Authorization Number unique to the station)
- Training feeds
- Audition feeds, closed circuit feeds, or other not-for-broadcast feeds
Generally, NPR Distribution will have very short notice on the need for these services. Before you call Distribution you should know, as a program source, what time the party receiving your feed can stand by for it.
Be aware that unconfirmed time means your program may be moved even after it has been scheduled. Your unconfirmed feed will be targeted for time available, but that time may be pre-empted by another program source willing to pay a higher rate for it.
Unconfirmed orders receive a discount of 65% off the applicable channel charge.
