PRSS® ContentDepot® Training and Scholarships Available
NPR Distribution is continuing its efforts to prepare public radio staff for the PRSS® ContentDepot®. We will offer ContentDepot workshops at the 2006 NFCB Community Radio Conference, April 19-22, 2006, in Portland, Oregon, and at the 2006 Public Radio Engineering Conference (PREC), which will be held April 21-22, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With the ContentDepot expected to begin operations in spring 2006, the timing of these training events will be ideal for preparing station staff for the transition to the new system.
The three-hour station workshop at the NFCB conference will focus on the details of getting the ContentDepot up and running at a station, including strategies for managing live and file-based programming and tips for automating file transfers. Also, a producer workshop at NFCB will focus on making sure audio sounds its best as it moves through these digital distribution systems-standards for audio levels, encoding, and metadata have never been more important than in this new era of electronic file delivery. NPR Distribution staff will also be available in the NFCB exhibit hall to provide demonstrations and ContentDepot consultations to station staff and producers.
At the PREC, ContentDepot sessions will go into more technical depth on the set up, operations, and optimization of the ContentDepot at stations. At least one day is also expected to focus on topics related to HD Radio and other new technologies. General managers, engineers, and operations staff are encouraged to attend to learn more about emerging technologies in public radio.
NPR Distribution will offer a limited number of scholarships to both the PREC and NFCB to qualified applicants to help pay the costs of attending these training events. Please review the following documents for more details about the scholarships and application procedures.
