NPR Distribution, Managers of the Public Radio Satellite System

Five PREC Scholarships Awarded

NPR Distribution is happy to announce the five recipients of scholarships to the Public Radio Engineering Conference, April 16-17, 2004 in Las Vegas. Our five recipients are:

  • Nathan Chervek, Student Engineer, KXCV/KRNW, Maryville, MO
  • Shawna Claiborne, Program and Operations Director, KBUT-FM, Crested Butte, CO
  • Karl Fontenot, Chief Engineer, KRVS-FM, Lafayette, LA
  • Walt Gander, Operations Director, WXPR Public Radio, Rhinelander, WI
  • Burton Poley, Radio Production Engineer, KNAU Arizona Public Radio, Flagstaff, AZ

The scholarship amount of up to $1,000.00 per person will be used to help defray the costs of PREC attendance, and will provide the recipients the opportunity to learn about HD Radio and the PRSS ContentDepot. The recipients will also have a chance to visit the NAB 2004 Spring Convention exhibits.

Additional opportunities will be available throughout the year to learn more about ContentDepot and the implications for station operations. In fall 2004, as we near the ContentDepot implementation, we plan to offer a series of regional operations forums where operations and engineering personnel can receive hands-on training and exposure to ContentDepot technology. We encourage you to visit this site periodically for the latest information on ContentDepot and upcoming training events.

Congratulations again to our PREC scholarship award recipients, and thanks to all who applied.
