ContentDepot FAQ for Producers

Questions about Uploading Files to the ContentDepot

I'm having problems uploading episode files. What do I do?

There are several things to check if you are unable to upload. If this is the first time you are uploading an episode from this location:

  1. Check with your IT person to see if your location's firewall restricts outbound ports. If so, outbound only port numbers 4443 and 4444 will need to be opened on your firewall. The IP address for ContentDepot is 205.153.38.101.

  2. Verify that your computer has the necessary version of Java Runtime installed. Instructions for this are in the producer user guide.

  3. Verify that you are using a ContentDepot-compliant browser and operating system combination, and that your computer settings with regard to pop-ups and cookies are set correctly. Instructions are available in the producer user guide.

Some other general tips:

  1. If you receive an error that a file failed to upload, please check the file and make sure it meets the ContentDepot specifications described under "Preparing files for the ContentDepot." Then check your network configurations.

  2. Please note that file upload performance is directly related to the robustness and reliability of your Internet connection. The secure file transfer application will maintain a connection and restart automatically if there are outages in your service

  3. If you receive windows that ask you to open a Java application or JNLP or to accept a security certificate, it is okay to accept (click "yes" or "ok") these alerts. Please contact the PRSS Help Desk for assistance if you are unable to successfully upload.

Where do I upload evergreens?

Program producers are encouraged to upload evergreen episodes in the ContentDepot portal. When available, these evergreen episodes will be posted on the main program page. For live programs, you must create a separate, specifically designated evergreen program to upload a file-based evergreen episode. Notify stations when you do so, so they will know to subscribe.

Where do I upload promos?

Pre-recorded promos should be uploaded to the episode page that the promo is promoting. Promos will be delivered to stations upon upload. The aggregated promo feeds are no longer provided. Please note that your promos must be in the appropriate MP2 format to be delivered by the ContentDepot.
