2009 PRSS® ContentDepot® Rates
Producers will be billed for ContentDepot® distribution according to the number of megabytes used to transmit a program.
The former public radio channel rates have been converted to data capacity measured in megabytes. Using this model, a quarter hour of programming is approximately the equivalent of 14.4 megabytes of mono or 28.8 megabytes of stereo. Different rates based on times of day are no longer relevant in the ContentDepot, because the satellite capacity will be managed on a 24-hour basis. Keep in mind that the ContentDepot will virtually eliminate the need for retransmissions and missed feeds for file-based programs, which will result in cost savings to producers.

As in today's model, the '1st mile' costs (costs of getting programs to the uplink, whether via ISDN, other circuit, or delivery service) continue to be borne by the producer. Ingest fees into the ContentDepot are assessed based on the type of program you will be delivering (file or live), and whether you will be delivering files to the system "ready-to-go" (automated file submission). Programs may still be delivered to us on physical media such as CD, DAT, or tape, but an additional fee will be charged for work Distribution staff must perform on a producer's behalf to encode and prepare the file for delivery (assisted file submission).
